- Abraham moved to Wilcox County, Alabama in the mid-1830's with his older brother, Daniel Jr., and obtained his first of several land grants in 1835.
On May 20th 1846, Abraham married Mrs. Eliza Pressly Haslett, daughter of Dr. Samuel and Elizabeth [Hearst] Pressly. Eliza's first husband Rev. George Haslett had died several years earlier. Abraham and Eliza would have five known children:
